Vasiliki Chanou

Vasiliki Chanou is a lyric soprano with a passion for opera and a drive to deliver sincere and moving performances. Vasiliki was chosen to perform the role of Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the 2023 Berlin Opera Festival with the Berlin Opera Academy, under the baton of maestro Carlos Spierer and the direction of Susan Stone. In July 2022 she was selected by André Rieu to join his Johann Strauss orchestra, with which she toured around the world during 2022 and 2023. Vasiliki has been a member of the La Monnaie/De Munt Opera Choir Academy (2019-2021), with which she performed under the batton of Kazushi Ono and Antonello Manacorda (Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, Cosi fan tutte). She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in classical singing from the LUCA School of Arts (Leuven, Belgium) in 2014 under the guidance of Catrin Wyn-davies. In 2021 she joined the European Opera Academy erasmus programme, specializing in the music of Verdi at the Conservatorio di Parma with belcanto specialist Lucetta Bizzi. In 2022 she also obtained her master’s degree specializing in opera from the Conservatory of Maastricht in the Netherlands, where she studied with Susanne Schimmack and Frans Kokkelmans. During her studies in Maastricht, she performed as Antonia in J.Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann and as Rose in K.Weil’s Streetscene. Currently she is a member of the Consensus Vocalis choir, with which she performs as an opera choir member, often in collaboration with the Nederlandse Reisopera. She is also a member of the extra chorus of the opera of Aachen in Germany.
