Born and raised in Hong Kong, baritone Samuel Wong has completed his MMus in classical singing at Codarts Rotterdam (Rotterdam Conservatory) under Henk Neven. He has previously graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BA in Music (classical singing) with First-class honour, where he studied with Caleb Woo. Samuel has taken masterclasses from Helen Donath and Klaus Donath from the International Summer Academy at The Mozarteum University Salzburg. He was also coached by Margreet Honig, Maarten Koningsberger, Frans Huijts, Jill Feldman, Allen Henderson, etc.
Samuel’s solo repertoire includes Die Schöpfung (Haydn), Messiah (Handel), Johannes-Passion & Markus-Passion (J.S. Bach), Requiem (Mozart, Fauré, Duruflé, Zelenka), Choral Fantasy (Beethoven), Vespers 1610 (Monteverdi), etc.
Samuel has recently appeared as Masetto in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Figaro in the abridged versions of Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) and Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), and Notaro in Don Pasquale (Donizetti) and Madama Butterfly (Puccini). He has been working with opera companies including Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera2day, Opera Spanga, Musica Viva (Hong Kong), etc.
Passionate about choral singing, Samuel has been collaborating closely with Consensus Vocalis, Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Laurens Vocaal, PA’dam Kamerkoor, etc.
