Having started his singing life at a very early age at a boys choir in Roden, The Netherlands, Aart went on to study voice at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Valerie Guillorit after graduating as a historian at Utrecht University. Since then he has performed with a wide variety of ensembles through The Netherlands and abroad, feeling at home in everything from polyphony and the works of Monteverdi to opera and contemporary pieces. Apart from being a core member of Consensus Vocalis, which also provides the Nationale Reisopera with its choruses, Aart has performed with Laurens Collegium Rotterdam, Studium Chorale Maastricht, Opera Company The Fat Lady, Nicole Beutler Projects, Cappella Frisiae and De Utrechtse Spelen. Notable solo performances include the Vespers by Monteverdi, Mozarts Kröningsmesse and Requiem, various cantatas and masses by Bach and Handel’s Messiah. Near future engagements include Gluck’s Orphée and Le siege de Corinthe by Rossini with the Reisopera.
